Back buttons

Hy. I've been searching around the forums for a solution to the L and R buttons. The way helder originally did it was kind of uncomfortable to me. So I ordered these :

I kinda still want to use the gameboys cartridge reader so the back button pcbs are out. I was thinking of mounting them on the battery cover. Are there any projects out there with such a sollution?

I used to have access to a 3d printer. That's saddly gone . If that were still an option i would have no issue since i would just print a bracket and glue it in.

But, with those the cartridge reader would no longer fit. I have seen some on the battery cover, check this link out:

The only problem with using the battery tray, is that you will need to likely mod things a bit more to fit the battery. If you plan to use the cart reader the battery can't go in the cart slot, and if you have buttons in the battery bay, it will be hard to fit a battery in there too.

If it was my build, I would skip the cartridge reader, and just orient the pi with SD access in the contrast slot. Keep the battery tray intact for the battery, and then just use one of the linked button brackets above. (If you are interested in any prints I can print them for you if you like, i'm based in Canada.)

The thing is I'm kind of set on doing it with the cartridge reader .

I would need some other prints too but I'm based in eu and printing plus shipping costs are a bit much for me at the moment. I'll try to think of some work arrounds. Also I'm not too worried about the battery. I intend to to cut out the battery trey and keep things super tight. I think i can manage to fit both. If that wont work I'll do it like wermy did it but with bigger buttons at least.

yeah, putting them in those middle screw posts is fine, especially if you use some tactile buttons with bigger caps. Check this out:

Sixteenbit always used these larger tactile caps, which always look nice, although, I have not actually tried them myself! He's also got a 3d bracket designed with little standoffs for the tactile buttons.
