Parts List

Post by akjim101 » Fri Jun 17, 2016 4:43 pm

I've been following this project, watching the videos and reading the how to instructions, and finally decided that I want to make one myself. However, before starting I want to make sure that I have ALL of the parts required. If someone could provide a complete list of all components needed (and links for where to buy them) that would be helpful not only for myself, but also for others working on this project in the future. Further, if there are multiple options listing them would be helpful (eg. for the board there's the option to cut up the original or several people have made them so listing links to the various options would be helpful).

Thanks for your help as I get all the supplies needed to get started.

i would like to give you a list however they are not always the cheapest, the expensive part for me was the adafruit LCD,
i would have written you a list but its down to peoples choices what they really want and how far they want to mod it...further.

what i suggest is to look at Wermys guides and make a rough list and see if it fits your budget, if not then show us your list and im sure the lovely peeps here would like to give you some alternative suggestions

I agree with DirtyBullets. You'll have to do your homework and figure out what you want to do with the build and what you want to invest in it. There are some really top of the end products going into some of these builds, and a lot of clones/3rd party parts that save money. Becuase of that, no one's builds are identical. Maybe wermy will chime in, but I think even his second GBZ is different from his first ever so slightly. Perhaps not.

Anyway, it is easier for you to figure out your list and then ask people to double check then for people to do your project for you (the personal touch is all the fun after all).

Here are a couple helpful resources though to get a good sense of an overview.

Thank you for linking me to the schema. That works perfectly for what I needed. I'll post back once parts start arriving. Thanks for the help.

That was the issue I was having as well. Which was why I posted this thread. What is the correct URL I should be following?

After doing my research this is what I have come up with:
Original GB

Power Board
Front Board
Arduino Pro Mini

RP0

Screen
Screen Protector

XY
LR

USB Port

Battery???
Can anyone see anything that I'm missing? Or any parts that just won't work? Feel like this should just about do it.

Update 1: Changed to Arduino, looking for better battery, changed screen

Your "case" are the full Gameboy so they are overpriced.
You can skip the teensy or better you can use an Arduino pro micro (much cheaper).
Buying battery on ebay is a really bad idea. My guess would be that the one you pointed out is in reality a 400mah max, those are nasty, it's maybe the only component that you really need to get full price

I did mean to do the full gameboy, I just called it a "case" because once we part it out, that's essentially what it is. There are some parts in it that will be used and rather than buying them I figured I'd just get a full gameboy.

I will take the advice on going with an Arduino instead. And will do get a better battery. Thnaks!
