First time builder here; I have squandered my time searching these forums high and low and have come up with nothing. I am a console modder foremost and I have never forayed into Raspberry Pi territories before, so if this is a common problem, my apologies.
I recently finished a Kite CSL build and it is really awesome. The screen is amazing. I cannot seem to attach this unit to wifi. I have followed the advice that I have seen given to people who had regular circuit sword builds and that hasn't worked. The error message I get is wlan0-No wifi interface detected. I have installed the pi zero w, so I know wifi is on board. I have a few guesses as to the reason this may be happening for me:
I bought this Circuit Sword Lite on the first round of Lites and there was a different retropie build at that time. I believe he made a new build on the second round and I am wondering if there was a change between these builds that could be causing this? I know he has the original source code on his github but I don't understand how to compile it to a usable .img for Raspberry Pi.
The only other thing I could see that could have potentially happened was the wifi chipset underwent too much heat when I soldered the GPIO pins. This seems unlikely to me because I have a temperature controlled iron and I used a good amount of flux with the drag soldering method. I was pretty quick about it and I really doubt this is what happened.
So far I have tried a fresh install on three different SD cards. One brand new one. Same error everytime.
I was able to transfer some games to the unit with the USB method, but I would love to get down deep into these settings so that I can dial in a pixel perfect integer scale. I was looking into the settings and I see that retroarch is set to render at 640x480 for every core. I was wondering why this was done, since the screens resolution is only 320x240?
I also have noticed that Game Boy to GBA all have good performance, varying between 55-60fps, but they have pretty severe audio slowdown at points. Is this par for the course on a zero? Some of the other emulators like NES and Game Gear are running way too fast, as if they are being fast forwarded. I tried to use the frame throttle option set to 1x but it did not work for NES. I wanted to downscale the amount of stuff that I had and lose my Game Boys and Game Gear and just go with this but I'm a little spoiled with the real hardware right now. If anyone has any tips let me know!
Here are some pictures of my build:

I would really love to get this Wifi working, the other questions would be great points of discussion if anyone has any time to answer them. I do realize that they are amateur. Thanks so much for your time.
