I see glass screens for sale with 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, and 3mm borders. which should I get for the LCD that comes with the CSword?
And are there major differences between all the buttons and membranes out there?

Re: what size screen border for CircuitSword build?
i think it matters more how cleanly you can do the cutout. they all will work, but it's pretty tough to leave a nice, tight 1mm edge on there, without also taking too much off. if you leave in too much, then it looks pretty nasty to have those bits poking out on the edges. and, you need a little something to stick to, don't forget. 3mm gives you a lot more wiggle-room with your cut, but will obscure more, obviously, but not really a lot more. all these 3.5 screens basically fill up that whole space, so whatever border you pick will eat into it a little bit. you just adjust the overscan in the config to compensate.
with the little experience i've had, if you opt for the smaller border, and you're using a dremel or some other hand tool, do that last few mm with some sandpaper. if you haven't done a build, or only one before, then get the bigger border. they all look pretty great, and you don't really lose much with the fatter ones. it'll be a lot less stressful to get a clean cut on there.
for the buttons.... yeah, totally. the handheld legend two-piece ones are rounded and have a different plastic feel than the concave ones you can get at retro-modding, etc. and then kistch-bent has silicone ones which are totally different. cheaper ones feel... cheap. better ones feel, um.. better
of course they all work the same though, so it's just aesthetics and feel
for membranes... what i've experiences is that cheap ones can suck and not be very responsive in the gameboy. good ones "feel" better too.
