Searching for a Screen/ Display

Post by clarkgarg85 » Sat Jan 02, 2021 7:45 am

Hi,
I’m trying to build my own mintyPi without purchasing Helder’s parts for $90, and I’m not managing to find a reasonable screen. I’m not adding a speaker, so the screen could be up to 3.2 inches. Anything I find either has a GPIO connector at the back or works with a ribbon cable that’s too thick for the rPi. Do you have anywhere links to some reasonably thin screens that can be connected to a rPi?
Thanks a lot.

Here is a 1.5 inch screen that is pretty cheap the screen is a small resolution but is easy to use and configure https://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-Color-1-5 ... SweoReAsaW here is a video showing how to set it up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7k711_nt7Y&t=42s this is a less sketchy screen that has a higher resolution and is also pretty easy to setup however with its size trying to fit it into an altoids tin will be difficult but i highly recommend using this one.

Good luck trying to put a 3.2 in the Altoids tin. The new mintypi screen he's using is a big chunk of the cost of the project.

Plus there is no screen that just magically plugs into the Pi like you are thinking, and no that Ribbon connector on the Pi0 is not for an LCD it's for a camera. The reason my screen attaches to the pi is it is soldered to a carrier board or attaches to it that I made so it's plug-able into the controller pcb. The controller pcb has solder points for the screen that need to be soldered properly for the LCD to work as well as have the drivers setup to make it display.

Plenty of information on the ili9341 LCDs we have on this forum and many other sites you can try using but it's not plug and play, but these work pretty well on a Pi zero and is the mintyPi Lite LCD kind in use.
