I know users have reported running this off 5V, but I can't get it to run on 5V. I've tried a USB cable directly and a raspberry pi zero through the gpio pins. I did get it working on 9V and 12V.

Any ideas, or ways I can get this to run on 5V?
Is your borad identical to this, if so have you ran the wire:

Regarding this board from ZIANJIE. Pictures below shows the exact same board, but for some reason mine has an added step-down converter which I think is causing the issue. The board on the left runs on 5V out of the box, my board on the right does not.

I'm going to hotwire 5v power to the SW pin of the step-down which I think will work.

The back is labeled very nicely and I followed the traces on the little remote switch board and none of the switches are hooked up to those power components towards the top. It should be easy to make a custom button board and just run the wires back to the controller board.

I've got two of these boards/screens coming from China, How did you end up rewiring the control board for your build in the end ? Did you just choose the buttons that you would most use like menu & +/- ? Some screen shots would be good if at all poss :)
Also whats the 3.3v for ?

Thanks.

I just received the BW 3.5" screen sold by e-life and can confirm that it supports 5V without any modifications. Additionally, it just requires desoldering the 4 cables and wiring it to the pi zero right away. .

I remembered to take a photo shortly after i began desoldering.

http://www.dx.com/p/et-350-3-5-tft-lcd- ... 3nqzPkkq70

just came across this, 3.5" tft, resolution is stated as "960 x 468 pixels resolution (4:3)"

i havent backtracked the thread to look and see if this was already found, it does look similar to the others, but the resolution seems different?

I wouldn't trust the resolution claims of any of those cheap screens they have already be proven to be false, But hay it's cheap enough to take a risk and reading some of the reviews it say's it can do 5v.
